Nurses of Kozhikode taluk hospital conduct delivery in absence of doctors, complaints family

KOZHIKODE: A woman's family alleged that the nurses on duty conducted the delivery in the absence of the doctor. The incident happened on January 31st at Thamarassery Taluk Hospital in Kozhikode. The relatives said the doctor came after the delivery.


Adira, a native of Kudukkilummaram in Thamarassery, was admitted to the hospital on January 31st. No doctors were present during the delivery. The nurses took the baby out and she started bleeding soon after that. The doctor was summoned only then, said her relatives. Adira is presently undergoing treatment at Kozhikode Medical College Hospital.


There are strong protests seeking action against the hospital authorities in connection with the incident. The locals marched to the hospital. The family has lodged a complaint with the chief minister and the health minister. Meantime, the hospital superintendent has denied the allegations. He said the complaint will be investigated.
