Petition filed in High Court seeking stay of proceedings related to Melshanti appointment

sabarimala

KOCHI: A petition has been filed in the High Court seeking a stay of proceedings related to the appointment of Sabarimala Melshanti. The petition has been filed by Vishnu Narayanan, a native of Kottayam. In his petition, Vishnu has alleged that the condition that those applying for the post of Melshanti in Sabarimala and Malikappuram should be Malayalam Brahmins is unconstitutional.

The petition alleged that the provisions of the Devaswom Board notification violate Supreme Court orders. The petition also sought cancellation of the Devaswom Board notification for the appointment of Melshanti.
