ATTINGAL: The father of the eight-year-old girl who was harassed by a woman pink police officer in Attingal has said that he will donate a part of the compensation from the government to the Chief Minister's Disaster Relief Fund. Speaking to a private channel, Jayachandran said that he did not fight for the sake of compensation but to get justice for his daughter.
Jayachandran asked the government not to file an appeal against the High Court verdict asking it to pay a compensation of Rs 1.5 lakhs to the girl. "I got a favourable verdict from the High Court after fighting for 4 months. If the government gives the compensation, I will deposit a part of the money in my daughter's name and donate another part to the Chief Minister's Disaster Relief Fund. I will also use a part of the money for the education of tribal children," Jayachandran said.
The High Court had directed the state government to pay a compensation of Rs 1.5 lakhs to the girl who was harassed by pink police officer Rajitha accusing her of theft.
The incident occurred on August 27 when Attingal resident Jayachandran reached Moonumukku with his eight-year-old daughter, who wanted to watch the movement of a massive cargo to the Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) in Thumba.
Rajitha, the pink police officer, was deployed to assist in traffic regulation and she accused the duo of stealing her mobile phone that was kept in the police vehicle.
In a video that went viral, the officer and her colleague were seen harassing the father and the daughter and even frisking him. The child broke down amid their harassment.
