Police identify three accused of stealing national party's election fund of Rs 3.5 crores

THRISSUR: The Chalakudy DySP-led probe team has identified three accused in a case of goons stealing Rs 3.5 crore of election fund sent to Ernakulam by a national party on the instructions of district leaders.

One of the three cars in which the accused traveled was found and produced in court. According to the police, the non-cooperation of the complainants in the search of the houses of the absconding accused is affecting the investigation. According to the complainants, there was only Rs 25 lakh in the car. Documents of only Rs 25 lakh was there in the vehicle. If they complain about the remaining amount, the source of the money also needs to be revealed. The probe into stolen money and the involvement of party leaders are conducted separately. The investigation was intensified on the instructions of the Rural SP.

There are indications that the leaders involved in the case are trying to settle the case with the goons. An attempt is being made to convict the goons by producing Rs 25 lakh which is said to be lost. The district leadership is planning to take action against the accused. Action may be taken after the counting day against the three leaders suspected to be involved.
