THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In the context of increasing drug trafficking, sale and rising crime, the police have decided to impose KAAPA on habitual offenders and confiscate their property in drug cases. The state police chief Anil Kant has directed to complete procedures within one month.

Those who have been accused in at least two serious cases and have been involved in a new case within the last six months are charged with KAAPA. During the year, there are more than 350 serious cases and 73 of them are habitual offenders.

More than 10,000 drug cases were charged in three years, but asset confiscation was not intensified. The properties and bank accounts of the accused will be confiscated in the coming days. The Excise Department will hand over the information of habitual drug offenders to the police for imposing KAAPA.
