THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KR Jyothilal, the Principal Secretary of the Power Department and a member of the director board, is reportedly not satisfied with the working style of Dr Rajan Khobragade, Chairman and MD of KSEB. As per indication, he has asked Power Minister K Krishnankutty to remove him from the board of directors. Jyothilal also complains that the MD does not consult him even on policy matters.

This is amid allegations that KSEB, which Dr B Ashok made profitable during his chairmanship, is now in a financial crisis. It is also alleged that the proceedings of the Board of Directors meeting are not transparent. It has been more than four months since the dues were paid to the contractors. Contract employees have also not been paid since January. Projects that were meant to be completed on time are also delayed.

The government could not reach a consensus on the implementation of the smart meter scheme, which would help the government to increase its credit limit. There is also a complaint that among the projects selected for the government's 100-day work projects, there are also technical obstacles to be completed on time. The Power Minister and Energy Secretary have to answer in this regard.

At the same time, reportedly the minister is of the view that Jyothilal's demand cannot be accepted and has proposed to collectively take measures to increase the revenue of KSEB and make it profitable.
