Rain continues to lash Kerala, holiday declared for educational institutions in three districts on Thursday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Although the red alert has been withdrawn, a holiday has been declared for educational institutions in three districts in the wake of continuing heavy rains in the state. Collectors have declared a holiday in Kottayam, Alappuzha and Idukki districts. District Collectors informed that all educational institutions, including professional colleges, and Anganwadis will be closed on Thursday.

There will be no change in pre-scheduled exams and interviews in Idukki. All educational institutions, including professional colleges, in Pathanamthitta, Thiruvalla taluk and educational institutions running relief camps in other taluks of the district will have a holiday tomorrow. However, there will be no change in the university examinations as per the earlier schedule.


Although the red alert has been withdrawn, the Meteorological Department has informed that the state is likely to receive heavy rains today and tomorrow. An orange alert has been declared in 11 districts from Pathanamthitta to Kannur today. A yellow alert has been sounded in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam and Kasaragod districts.
