THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The weather department has warned that there is no possibility of heavy rains similar to the ones that lashed the state in the past few days. Meantime, it has been predicted that there is a possibility of heavy rain at isolated places. In the 14 districts, there is no possibility of heavy or very heavy rains in the warning.
The rains are subsiding as the influence of low pressure over Kerala coast and cyclone over Gujarat is decreasing. Yellow alert has been issued in districts from Ernakulam to Kasaragod.
Holiday for two districts
All educational institutions in entire Kottayam and in four taluks of Alappuzha district remain closed today. In Alappuzha, holidays are in Kuttanad, Chengannur, Cherthala and Ambalapuzha taluks. A holiday has been given to schools functioning as relief camps in districts including Wayanad. Officials informed that there will be no change in pre-scheduled exams.
Rains to be active in July
Although rains are decreasing in the state these days, heavy rains are expected again by the second week of July. A warning of high waves and a ban on fishing continue to be issued along the Kerala coast.
