Rains to intensify today, Orange alert sounded in two districts

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: There is a chance of heavy rain in the state today. Orange alert has been sounded in in Malappuram and Kozhikode. Yellow alert has been issued in Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Wayanad and Kannur.

The low pressure in the Arabian Sea close to the Kerala coast is the reason for the heavy rainfall. The Met Office warned of strong winds of up to 50 kmph and thunderstorms. Fishermen have been warned from going to the sea. The rain is likely to weaken by Sunday.
