THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: K Sudhakaran expressed his willingness to step down from the post of KPCC chief after his controversial statements. It is learnt that he has sent a letter to Rahul Gandhi in this regard. He has cited health issues as the reason to step down in the letter sent two days ago.

Sudhakaran clarified in the letter that KPCC and the opposition are not going together. There is also no support from the opposition leader. Meantime, it is believed that the high command has not taken a decision on the letter.

K Sudhakaran's statement at an event on Children’s Day in Kannur courted a controversy. He had stated that Nehru was ready for a compromise with communal fascism by making RSS leader Shyamaprasad Mukherjee a minister. When it sparked a controversy, he explained that his statement was misinterpreted.

Opposition leader V D Satheesan, K Muraleedharan and other league leaders had expressed their displeasure on his statement. Satheesan said that Sudhakaran's remarks are serious. A detailed investigation will be conducted on the sensational statement. There are frequent complaints that the KPCC chairman are making such remarks. Will talk to the allied parties objecting the remarks.

K Muraleedharan responded that K Sudhakaran's pro-RSS remark should be corrected. He had demanded that an apology is not enough and a correction taking the league into confidence is needed. Nehru had never made a compromise with RSS. Nehru kept Shyamaprasad Mukherjee out of the mainstream for his RSS activities and the formation of the Bharatiya Jana Sangam. Nehru also helped to arrest Mukherjee. Meanwhile, such a statement has worried the minorities returning to the Congress. This statement has also weakened the Congress.

Muslim League state general secretary in-charge P M A Salam said that K Sudhakaran's RSS-Nehru statement was against the history of Congress. PMA Salam also accused K Sudhakaran of making unacceptable statements. Congress is the party that has not allied with BJP. It is for this reason that the Muslim League remains with the Congress.
