THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Former CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan said that the revelation of Sandeep Nair, the accused in the gold smuggling case, that the ED had put pressure on him to give a statement against the Chief Minister is serious. The matter should be examined by the court. The CPM's allegation that there was a conspiracy in the case has proven to be true.

After his release from jail, Sandeep had revealed that the ED had offered to make him an approver if he told the Chief Minister and his office knew everything about the gold smuggling. Sandeep had also said that the ED had forced him to testify against former minister KT Jaleel, former speaker Sriramakrishnan and Bineesh Kodiyeri.

Sandeep, the accused in the Thiruvananthapuram gold smuggling case, was released from jail today. Sandeep was released from Poojappura jail after serving his sentence under COFEPOSA.
