RT-PCR negative certificate without collecting swab sample; lab in Malappuram shut down

MALAPPURAM: Authorities have shut down a lab in Manjeri that issued fake Covid certificates. It is learnt that the lab used to issue RT-PCR negative certificates without collecting swab samples. The action was taken following a report by the DMO.

The action was taken against Safa Lab near Manjeri Medical College. The authorities had found that the lab was operating without any facilities dictated by the health department. The District Medical Officer said that extensive inspections will be carried out in the labs in the district to find out whether fake Covid test results are being issued.
