SBI branch attack: NGO workers suspended, police fail to arrest remaining attackers


THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two NGO workers who were involved in the attack on SBI branch in Thiruvananthapuram on the day of Bharath Bandh against policies of Modi government have been suspended for investigation purposes. NGO union area secretary Ashokan and Attender of Technical education directorate Harilal were suspended by the authority. They have been remanded till January 24th. People have been demanding their suspension since their arrest.

Meantime, the police have directed that remaining accused should not be allowed to work immediately. They will issue a notice regarding this. However, a complaint has been put forward by several people that the police are purposefully delaying their arrest.

A branch official said a group of people came to the manager's cabin around 10 am on the day of bharath bandh and threatened him and his staff, damaged a glass-top table and a computer monitor..
