Should conduct investigation against CM in gold smuggling case; UDF begins Collectorate march, police use water cannons in Kozhikode

KOZHIKODE: The UDF conducted collectorate march across the state demanding an inquiry against the Chief Minister based on Swapna Suresh's allegations in the gold smuggling case. Clashes erupted in several places during the march. Opposition leader VD Satheesan inaugurated the protest in Thrissur. The police fired water cannons at the activists who tried to overturn the barricade, during the inauguration of the protest at the Kozhikode Collectorate. The activists did not disperse and again gathered here to protest. The flexes of the Left organizations were destroyed by the UDF activists at many places.

Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy inaugurated the protest in Kochi. While the inauguration was going on, activists climbed on top of the barricade and shouted slogans. UDF activists started protests in various districts including Kasaragod, Pathanamthitta and Kollam. At some places there were slight clashes with the police.
