THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: KSU and Youth Congress activists staged a protest at the regional office of the Canara Bank seeking action against bank authorities related to the suicide of a woman and her teenage daughter from Marayamuttom near Neyyattinkara. They committed suicide after immolating themselves following loan recovery of the bank. The activists vandalised the bank office.
The activists reached the office in Statue Wednesday morning at 9.30 am. Though they planned to stage protests march, the activists barged into the bank and vandalised the reception counter. Following that, the police reached and blocked the activists and forcefully brought them outside. The activists later squatted outside the bank and protested. The police then arrested them and removed them from the spot.
The activists protested demanding a case to be registered against bank officials. They should also be arrested. A large contingent of police has been deployed in front of the bank to avoid any untoward incidents.
