THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Food and civil supplies minister P Thilothaman has said that free food kits will be distributed in the state from next week onwards. The minister also added that all commodities to be distributed in the kit are available and arrangements for smooth distribution has been made.

“There will be no scarcity of food items and inflation during the lockdown period. When the lockdown was implemented for the first time in the state, there were several hurdles and impediments. Commodities were even transported via ships. This time, the government has decided to exempt goods vehicles from the lockdown restrictions and it will be helpful,” Thilothaman said.

The minister also said that the distribution of kits among the migrant labourers will be based on the directions given by the district administration. “There is no need to create any rush in the pretext of lockdown. Commodities could be bought by following the protocol guidelines,” Thilothaman said.
