Three more bodies recovered from Kootickal, no heavy rain in the state; southern Kerala likely to receive isolated showers

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Three more bodies have been recovered from Kootickal, which was badly affected by torrential rains and landslides. The bodies have not been identified. A search is going on to find the missing persons. Meanwhile, a search has begun to find the missing persons at Kokkayar in Idukki. The search is led by the Fire Force, NDRF, Revenue and Police. The Dog Squad has also reached the area. 8 people are missing in Kokkayar.

At the same time, the strength of the two-day-long torrential downpour in the state has waned. The IMD has forecast that heavy rains are unlikely in the state on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the rain is continuing in Kottayam district. The IMD has said that southern Kerala is likely to receive isolated showers today.

The state is likely to receive rains till Tuesday. Although the intensity of the rain has decreased, authorities have warned people living in hilly areas to remain cautious.

Intensive efforts are being made to restore transportation and electricity connections in districts including Kottayam.
