Two-storied house tilts in heavy rains, gets stuck on adjacent house, mother, daughter rescued

KOCHI: A two-storied house tilted completely after being battered by heavy rains and got stuck on the adjacent house. The incident happened at Kalamassery Friday morning at 6 am. A major tragedy was averted due to the timely intervention of the nearby residents. They immediately evacuated the inmates of the house.

The house that tilted belongs to Hamsa of Koonamthai Beerakutty Road. Only his wife and daughter were in the house at the time of the incident. The local residents noticed the house tilting after hearing a loud noise. They immediately evacuated the inmates of the house. The walls have been completely damaged. The house is uninhabitable. All the things have been completely taken out. The neighbours said the house collapsed as it was a very old structure.

There was not significant damage to the adjoining house. Attempts are being made to demolish the damaged house as early as possible. Representatives and police have reached the spot on information.
