THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The UDF’s stand that one should not become a minister just because he is an accused in the case is surprising, said Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. The case against V Sivankutty will be dealt with legally and there is no need for him to resign in the name of it, the chief minister told the assembly.
The chief minister had clarified yesterday that the Supreme Court verdict was final and that we are all obliged to abide by it. This will be dealt with legally. Action will be taken to face the case in a required manner in the court. There is no need to resign in the name of it, he said.
Opposition leader V D Satheesan alleged that the chief minister made a statement against the Supreme Court’s verdict in the assembly ruckus case. The chief minister misinterpreted the verdict of the apex court. The chief minister failed to realise the rule of the land is determined by the apex court and it was this court which ruled against Sivankutty and, hence we will not relent until he quits. From today onwards we are going to take the protest outside the Assembly and it will be seen all across the state, said Satheesan.
