Wages increased in Ayyankali Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme with retroactive effect from April 1

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister MV Govindan has announced an increase in the daily wage of workers under the Ayyankali Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme. The salary was increased to Rs 311. The decision to increase the wages of workers comes in the wake of an increase in the wages of workers under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. The increase will take effect from April 1 with retroactive effect. The Minister said that it has been decided to deploy guarantee scheme workers in the waste management sector as well.

The current salary of Rs 299 has been increased to Rs 311. In 2010, the Left Government introduced the first Urban Employment Guarantee Scheme in India. Wages have been raised gradually and now it became Rs 311. The Ayyankali Employment Guarantee Scheme is a project that has helped thousands of people to make a living which helped to eradicate poverty and bringing in social advancement in urban areas.
