Woman beaten in front of beauty parlour; Police grants station bail to parlour owner after arrest

attack

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The owner of a beauty parlor who brutally thrashed a woman for talking over the phone in front of her shop, has been arrested and released on station bail by the police. The woman was attacked in front of her seven-year old daughter.

39-year old Mini of Rich Mount Flat, Sasthamangalam was released after being arrested by the museum police, who initially refused to register a case. 33 year-old Sobhana, a B.Tech graduate from Maruthamkuzhi, was attacked near Kerala Bank in Sasthamangalam on Thursday afternoon. No action has been taken against the man who grabbed Shobhana along with Mini. He also beat up a young man who tried to record the incident on phone. The police are turning a blind eye to the video footage of all this.

Shobhana came to the Kerala Bank branch with her daughter to mortgage her bangle. The owner of the parlour asked her to leave for talking over the phone in front of her shop. Shobana refused and she was attacked. The shocking incident came to light after a video of the attack was circulated on social media.

The police intially refused to add or arrest the parlour owner's name in the FIR. When the protests intensified, Mini was arrested and released. Shobana told Kerala Kaumudi that she had swellings and pain all over the body due to the attack.
