‘Abused Athulya, she aborted our second child without my permission; remembers that after having two pegs’

SHARJAH: The audio message of Satheesh Shankar, husband of Athulya of Kollam, who committed suicide at her flat in Sharjah, is out. The message he shared on a WhatsApp group has surfaced. He is heard saying that he had abused her. He said there were issues between the two after she aborted their second child.

‘I’m hearing everything. I have abused her, it’s true. When she went home, she aborted our second child without my permission. I remember all these after having two pegs. This created a mental detachment between us, but later I forgot everything, he said.

‘Athulya got a job in a company here and was to join on Saturday. Arranged a vehicle for her. Bought all the things and gave her money also. I consume liquor on holidays. When I was having liquor, my friend called me. I went out at 12. When I returned, found her hanging. Her legs were almost touching the floor. Our bed which three people could not move, was lying sideways. I didn't notice it then. I thought about it later. She was found hanging in my saffron colour lungi. Thinking of her, I also attempted suicide yesterday on the same fan she was found hanging. I am also waiting for the police investigation. We will examine everything including the CCTV footage,' clarified Satheesh.
