high-court

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court termed as shocking on the incident where a three-year-old boy sustained injuries after falling into a drain in Panampilly Nagar. The court asked the corporation secretary if it was right to keep the drains open like this. The court said the corporation secretary was asked to appear to make him aware of these matters.

Public roads are not just for adults, children also have the right of it. The court asked if something had happened to the child, who would have been responsible for it. The court also directed the concerned officials to take action as early as possible. The corporation secretary, who tendered an apology for the incident, informed the court that slabs will be laid in two weeks. The lawyers brought the incident to the notice of Justice Devan Ramachandran Friday morning.

The incident happened at 7 pm last night when the child was going home with his mother. A major accident was averted as the mother immediately pulled out the child from the drain. The hospital authorities informed that the health condition of the child is satisfactory. The local residents and councilors had requested many times to cover this drain. However, the reason for the accident is that the authorities had not taken the necessary action.
