NEW DELHI: Union minister V Muraleedhran has said that the case which led to the resignations of K T Jaleel involves graft and nepotism. He was speaking to the media in New Delhi. He asked why the chief minister is silent over Jaleel’s resignation. “The appointment was done with the knowledge of the chief minister, thus the CM has also violated his oath,” Muraleedharan said.
“The chief minister while taking over power, five years ago said that he will be intolerant towards corruption. Is this, still part of the government’s policy? Jaleel resigned after his crime was caught red handed. We know the stand taken by the chief minister on various issues. Citing the media’s witchhunt and victim tag Jaleel is trying to escape from the society,” V Muraleedharan alleged.
He said that KT Jaleel was very close to the Dubai consulate. “The man who has appeared for questioning before the probe agencies after covering his head with a mundu at midnight is now giving speeches on morality,” V Muraleedharan mocked at Jaleel. He also alleged that the chief minister justified the minister as he is also involved in the issue.
“There is no morality in Jaleel stepping down from the government alone. It is for saving the chief minister that law minister A K Balan said that there is nothing illegal in appointing relatives to government posts. Jaleel’s resignation is just a purported attempt to change the people’s attention,” he added. Muraleedharan also demanded the resignation of the chief minister.
