THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Outgoing KPCC chief Mullappally Ramachandran said the president’s post was a grave challenge. He said this in his farewell speech as part of relinquishing the post. He said that when he took over the post, his only condition to the high command was to get support from the leaders of Kerala. He said that he is thankful to Oommen Chandy and Ramesh Chennithala. He said he wanted to ensure unity and discipline in the party.

Congress cannot achieve its goal without ensuring internal democracy. The UDF garnered more votes in the local elections than the LDF. There was an agreement between the CPM and the BJP in all constituencies from Manjeswaram to Parasala. There difference in the vote percentage between the two fronts in the assembly elections is only small, pointed Mullappally

The Congress had always moved forward with peace. Cannot move forward through conflict. Social and Hindu fascists have joined hands. The history of Congress is a story of success and failure, he said.
