THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The CPI has called an emergency meeting in the tree felling controversy. CPI state secretary Kanam Rajendran has summoned Revenue Minister K Rajan and former minister E Chandrasekharan to the party headquarters MN Smarakam. It is learned that an explanation has been sought from the two in connection with the tree felling case.
The two are currently holding talks with Kanam Rajendran at the MN Smarakam. Binoy Vishwam MP has also reached the spot. Kanam Rajendran did not respond to questions related to the tree felling controversy this afternoon. Kanam evaded questions by saying that the government would make its position clear. With the criticism intensifying, he decided to call an urgent meeting. The sources of the case and controversy are the CPI-ruled department of forest and revenue.
