MALAPPURAM: The Muslim League has assessed that the controversies related to Samastha are being raised as part of the CPM's strategy to inflame the rift between the League and Samastha. The Muslim League has decided to proceed cautiously till the polls. Strict instructions have been given to the leaders not to make controversial statements.
The League is making an effort to hold discussions with Samastha leaders and give a message of unity. It will ignore Samastha Mushavara Umar Faizi's statement that there is a sharp rift between Samastha and the League. The League will ask Samastha to publicly reject social media campaigns urging it to defeat Abdussamad Samadani in Ponnani in response to the League for defying Samastha. With the new controversy leading to heated discussions on WhatsApp groups between Samastha-League activists, the League is worried that it might adversely affect the last-minute election campaigns.
While the League supporters in Samastha pointed out that the instruction of the Samastha leadership not to make any public statement against the League in the context of the election was violated, the opposite group pointed out that the stance of the state general secretary of the League, PMA Salam, in relation to the burning of the mouthpiece of Samastha, caused outrage.
Samastha will not take public stance against League
Samastha will not take a public stance against the League at the organizational level. Such a move is not practical as most of the Samastha activists are League supporters.
Anti-League activists in Samastha are spreading the word on social media that LDF candidate KS Hamsa is the real Samastha activist. The League is worried that all the Samastha workers in the coastal constituency will react emotionally. To overcome this, Sadiq Ali Thangal and PK Kunhalikutty will hold a road show focusing on the coastal region.
