Driver suspended for driving KSRTC bus through flooded area in Poonjar

KOTTAYAM: The driver who drove the bus through a flooded area in front of St. Mary's Church in Poonjar town thereby causing a life-hreatening situation for the passengers and causing damage to the bus has been suspended. S Jayadeep, the driver of the Erattupetta depot, was suspended on the instructions of Transport Minister Antony Raju to the Managing Director of KSRTC.

The driver saw the flood and stopped, but then took the bus forward and stopped in the middle of the flood and then drove the bus close to St. Mary's Church. The passengers of the bus were taken out by the locals. Later, the locals took the bus from the waterlogged area to the church's premises. Heavy rains lashed the entire Kottayam district and the eastern part of Pathanamthitta causing severe floods and landslides.
