Crime branch serves notice to Dileep’s lawyers in actress attack case

KOCHI: The crime branch has served a notice to Dileep's lawyers in the actor assault case. The notice was served to Raman Pillai Associates based on the statement of cyber expert Sai Sankar. The investigating officials have demanded to produce the gadgets taken from Sai Sankar.

Sai Sankar had told police that some digital documents he had with him was taken by Dileep’s lawyers. The crime branch has asked to produce this. Sai Sankar is the seventh accused in the murder conspiracy case.

He was made the seventh accused on charges including destruction of evidence after the probe team found that he had deleted some crucial data from Dileep's phone. Sai’s secret statement has been recorded at the Ernakulam Magistrate's Court after he made a serious revelation against Dileep and his lawyers.

Sai Sankar deleted documents including 12 chats and photos from Dileep's two iPhones as per the request of the advocates in the presence of Dileep. Sai had stated that the documents contained copies of the court and so on. Sai will be questioned in detail today.

Meantime, Baiju Paulose, the investigating officer in the case of attack on the actress, will appear in the trial court today. The court had directed him to explain the leak of some documents of the court proceedings to the media. The direction was given in the plea filed by the respondent.
