School reopens today across Kerala, 2.44 lakh students in Class 1

KOCHI: The new academic year begins today with 'pravesanolsavam' (welcome event) organized across the state. 2,44,646 children will begin their studies in Class 1. There are a total of 39,94,944 students from pre-primary to higher secondary. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the state-level pravesanolsavam today at 9.30 am at Elamakkara Govt. High School in Ernakulam.

Minister V Sivankutty said that various programs will be implemented to increase school facilities and learning standards. The distribution of items, including textbooks, has been completed. Distribution of free uniforms to nine lakh students of LP and UP schools is also in final stage.

Kerala is the first state to train teachers with the help of computer systems. Artificial Intelligence (AI) training has been provided to 80,000 high school and higher secondary teachers.
