Vatsan Kanneth, director of Ente Nandinikutty, dies

KOCHI: Film director Vatsan Kanneth (73) died here on Sunday. He will be laid to rest this evening at 4 pm at Ernakulam St Peters and St Pauls Orthodox Church Cemetery. He is the director of the film 'Ente Nandinikutty' released in 1985. Directed by Vatsan and written by S L Puram Sadanand, the film had Prem Nazir, Venu Nagavalli, Sankarady, Innocent, Satyakala, Jalaja and Kaviyoor Ponnamma in lead roles.


Vatsan, who started his film career under producer and director Subramaniam in Merryland Studio in Thiruvananthapuram in the 1970s later worked as an associate director with M Krishnan Nair, Sasikumar, A Bhimsingh, P N Sundaram, Thoppil Bhasi and Lisa Baby in almost 50 films.


He was the co-director of 'Aadyapadam' directed by Adoor Bhasi. He worked as the chief co-director of famous director Mohan's early films. He had a role in various film ventures under actor and producer Innocent and David Kachapilly.


He is the son of Ittan Kurian of Ernakulam Puthenkurissu Maliyekkal Kanneth and Vithamma. He leaves behind his wife Vatsa of Vennikkulam Thurkada and son Arun Kanneth and daughter-in-law Neethu.
