KANNUR: Holiday declared for educational institutions in three districts on Saturday in the wake of heavy rain. Collectors have declared holiday in Kannur, Kasaragod and Wayanad districts. The holiday comes amid a red alert warning issued in the districts.

IMD has declared a red alert in the Kasaragod district on Saturday. Heavy rains have continued in the district, major rivers have overflowed their banks, and water has entered low-lying areas. In the wake of this, the District Collector has declared a holiday for all educational institutions in the district on July 19, keeping public safety in mind. The holiday applies to schools, colleges, professional colleges, Kendriya Vidyalayas, tuition centres, madrasas, anganwadis and special classes in the district. All previously announced exams (including professional, university and other departmental exams) will be held as scheduled. There is no change in the exam timings.

In the wake of the red alert being issued in Wayanad district and the continued heavy rain warning, a holiday has been declared for all educational institutions except residential educational institutions on Saturday. The holiday applies to professional colleges, religious institutions, anganwadis, tuition centres and special classes. The holiday does not apply to pre-scheduled exams.

The Collector announced that all educational institutions in the district will be closed tomorrow as IMD has declared a red alert in Kannur district. The holiday will apply to tuition centres, religious institutions and special classes.
