PALAKKAD: Reports say Rahul Mamkootathil MLA has moved to an undisclosed location in Palakkad soon after the woman filed a sexual abuse complaint. His phone was found on for some time Friday morning. Sources said that he switched on his phone to talk to his advocate for filing an anticipatory bail plea. His phone was later found switched off.

It is hinted that Rahul has received legal advice that leaving Palakkad will affect his anticipatory bail. News had earlier emerged that Rahul had left the state. However, reports say that he is still in Palakkad. Meantime, it is heard that the MLA's official vehicle is in the flat where he lives. Rahul left in his friend's vehicle.

Meantime, the police will start recording witness statements in the rape case against him from today. The statement of the doctor who treated the woman following the physical problems she developed after consuming abortion pills will be recorded today. The statements of the woman's friends will also be recorded. The confidential statement and medical examination of the complainant were completed yesterday. The district sessions court will consider Rahul’s anticipatory bail plea on Monday.

The anticipatory bail plea was filed in the Thiruvananthapuram District Court. In his plea, Rahul has stated that he has a long cordial relationship with the complainant. Rahul has denied the allegations of sexual harassment. The plea said that he had neither raped her nor forced for abortion. The plea also stated that the woman's allegations are fabricated and said that he will cooperate with the investigation. Rahul's plea said the allegations were politically motivated.
