PATHANAMTHITTA: Women's Commission Chairperson P. Sathidevi said that it was the British judges who implemented laws that protect women in India. "Laws were implemented in British India with emphasis on the dignity of women. There were laws in British India on how to protect women," Sathidevi said. She was speaking at the inauguration of the Kerala Women's Commission Media Workshop organised by the Kerala Women's Commission, Pathanamthitta Press Club and District Information Office.

"Courts were established during the British era. Women's protection laws are very relevant in a country where men dominate the home, society and workplace. Women are the most accused in dowry cases. Even in cases of prostitution, women are the ones who act against women. The law to help women is not against men, but to protect women. It is not time to appoint a men's commission in Kerala,' P. Satidevi clarified.
