THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The health department director has issued a circular regarding the norms to be followed while issuing health cards to hotel staff. The sudden move comes in the wake of doctors getting caught taking bribes to issue health cards without any proper medical check.
The district medical officer should ensure that the doctors conform to the norms in the circular. The doctor should directly do the necessary medical checkup of the applicant. Blood and eye tests go mandatory along with tests on typhoid and jaundice. It should be only after the applicant passes the required test that the health card is issued.
