Deadly attack by Tehreek-e-Taliban in Pakistan leaves one dead and several injured

KARACHI: Another deadly attack by Tehreek-e-Taliban in Pakistan. One person was killed and several others were seriously injured in an attack targeting a checkpoint at the police headquarters in Quetta, Balochistan province. The death toll is likely to rise. The blast took place near the entrance of the police headquarters. A huge explosion was reported. The Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) claimed responsibility for the attack.

More than 100 people were killed in a suicide attack by the TTP on a mosque in Peshawar, Pakistan, last week. More than two hundred people were injured. The suicide bomber, dressed as a police officer, exploded during namaz at the mosque near the police headquarters. He reached the high security area of the mosque by crossing the three-level security cordon.

Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan is a terrorist group raised by Pakistan. The Tehreek-e-Taliban also follows the same ideology as the Afghan Taliban. Only a few things differ. TTP's attack has further worried Pakistan, which is in total financial ruin. It is believed that their aim is to seize power.

TTP was formed in 2007 by Baitullah Mehsudeh. Its current leader is Noor Wali Mehsud, who has openly pledged allegiance to the Afghan Taliban. However, the two groups have separate functions and command structures.

Most of the Taliban groups in Pakistan are gathered under the TTP. Their stated goals are resistance against the Pakistani government and the implementation of the law in the country. The most important goal of the TTP is to overthrow the government of Pakistan by carrying out terrorist attacks against the Pakistani armed forces and the government.
