Doctor wants Rs 2500 to proceed with abortion, arrested by vigilance

CHERTHALA: Doctor who demanded a Rs 2500 bribe for an abortion has been arrested by vigilance in Cherthala. The incident occurred in Cherthala taluk hospital where gynecologist and laparoscopic surgeon Dr. K Rajan fell into the vigilance trap. According to the vigilance, the pregnant lady approached the doctor for an abortion but was sent away with a tepid response. She met the doctor four times but the doctor always made some vague findings to delay the surgery. On Sunday, the lady reached again to the doctor but received a different response. She was asked to bring Rs 2500 to his home where he used to do private consultations. the lady quickly informed the same to vigilance and anti-corruption bureau who were quick to react. A plan was worked and the lady was asked to give the bribe. The bait went successful and while taking the bribe the vigilance stepped into action and arrested the doctor.
