Officers fear a posting in Museum police station; 4 SI post vacant for months

museum-

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The museum station is pivotal for its location at the heart of the capital and for the large number of cases registered. But interestingly, almost 4 SI posts and 15 other crucial posts lay vacant for months now. Any nuisance to the governor, chief minister, or other VVIPs comes under the aegis of the museum police. Officers are wilfully neglecting the posting here in fear of retribution from political heads in case of inefficacy. While these politics unfurls, the safety of the people and the locality is compromised to a large extent.

The premise is also home to cultural events with Kanakakunnu hosting most of the government programs. During Onam, it is the duty of museum police to provide abundant security to make the program continue in its grandeur best. It is being said that the Museum police station sweats the most in work and the pressure involved is another chapter. The proper running of the government-implemented schemes also comes under this police station which is an added headache for the police officers involved. With no sufficient numbers to meet the demands, the currently housed officers inside the museum police station are tormented with additional work hours and no leaves.
