Security guards thrash bystander in medical college; human rights Commission takes action

THIRUVANATHAPURAM: The human rights commission has initiated actions against the medical college issue that saw the security staffs mercilessly beating a bystander. Pangode native Afsal was beaten blue by the security guards the previous day in front of the OP section. The video of the incident went viral on social media after which the health minister directed officials to take action.

The commission will ask the Kazhakuttam assistant commissioner-led team to investigate this issue and submit the report within four weeks time. The scuffle happened after the security guards asked the bystander to leave as his stay exceeded the permitted time. Words were exchanged between the two which spiraled into a fight. According to the security guards, it was Afsal who started the fight. interestingly, Afsal didn’t complain about the incident to the police.
