Court says no more use of varaharoopam in Kanthara; Rishab Shetty gets bail

kanthara

KOCHI: The blockbuster movie kanthara’s producers were given anticipatory bail from the high court in Kochi. There was much ado after it was alleged that the song “Varaharoopam” used in the film is a clear echo of the Kerala band Thaikudam bridges “ Navarasam” made for Mathrubhumi music. The producers Vijay Kirandhur and Rishab Shetty earlier approached the Kozhikode town police station seeking bail, after complaints were filed by Thaikudam saying the song used was a copy of their own creation “ Navarasam”.

Justice A Badaruddhin ordered the producer and director of the film to reach the officers on February 12 and 13 for questioning. If an arrest is imperative, the producers can appear before the court and evade it with a bond of Rs 50,000. As the copyright issue looms, it will only be after a civil court ruling that the filmmakers will be allowed to use the song in the movie again.
