SC stays condition of Kerala High Court on not screening Kantara with song Varaharoopam

kantara-

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court stayed the condition of the Kerala High Court directing to not screen the film with the song Varaharooopan till a final order in the copyright infringement case.

A bench chaired by the Chief Justice stayed the high court ruling while pointing out that such instructions are not necessary while granting bail in copyright infringement cases. The court also directed to grant bail to the actor and the producer after producing the two before the trial court if arrested. The accused in the case, the film's producer and the actor, approached the Supreme Court seeking relaxation in the bail conditions.

The Kerala High Court granted anticipatory bail in a case registered by the Kozhikode Town Police on the complaint that the song Varaharoopam is a copy of the song 'Navarasam' composed by Thaikudam Bridge.
