Truck driver, who won Rs 1 cr lottery, arrested for shoe theft

MANCHESTER: Even after winning a lottery, some people commit robberies for the pleasure of stealing. The life of David Swatman, a truck driver who won a big lottery in America in 2018, is similar to this. The 43-year-old man continued as a lorry driver even after winning the jackpot. But later it became clear that the real purpose was to steal the goods carried in the truck.

David, who transported expensive shoes in his truck, used to steal some of these and sell them. He had appointed a team for this purpose. His role came to light in the investigation focused on CCTV cameras as shoes regularly went missing from David's lorry. David loaded the shoe boxes into another vehicle while leaving with the boxes from the companies. Between August and September 2020, he stole shoes worth £15,450 (16 lakhs).

After being found guilty, the police arrested David in 2020 and produced him in court where he confessed his crime.
