Actor Kalady Jayan passes away

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Kalady Jayan (72), a film-serial actor and producer of several serials, passed away on Wednesday. He was undergoing treatment for a stomach-related ailment. He died in a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram yesterday evening. He is a former employee of Titanium.

His real name is P Ramachandran. He adopted the name Kalady Jayan when he became active in the field of art. Kalady Jayan acted in around 100 films including Kireedam, Kalikkalam, Apoorvam Chilar and Cheriya Lokavum Valiya Manushyarum. His character name Azhakappan in the film 'Mazhavilkkavadi' was well appreciated. His character 'Netravati' in the serial 'Samayam' had also garnered the attention of the audience. Kalady Jayan used to give his ancestral home for free for the shooting of several Malayalam films. He also produced nearly 20 television serials.

He also received many awards in the serial field. Wife: S Geetha. Daughter: Late Smitha RG. The funeral will take place tomorrow at 4 pm at Saanthi Kavadam in Thycaud.
