India squad for last two tests, ODI series vs Aus announced; Rahul sacked as test vice-captain, Sanju ignored again

MUMBAI: Opener KL Rahul was undoubtedly the most criticized Indian player in the first two matches of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy against Australia. He had faced criticism from former international cricketers due to his lack of form. Fans were almost certain that Rahul would lose his place in the team.

Meanwhile, the BCCI has taken action against Rahul. The board has sacked him as the vice-captain of the team following his poor run of form. However, the opener still managed to find a place in the Indian squad for the remaining two matches of the test series. At the same time, Malayali wicketkeeper-batsman Sanju Samson has been ignored by the selectors once again.

Rohit Sharma will be unavailable for the first ODI due to family commitments and Hardik Pandya will lead the side in the first ODI.

Jaydev Unadkat who was released to lead Saurashtra in the Ranji Trophy final against Bengal also came back to the Test and ODI squad. The three-match ODI series between India and Australia will start from 17th March in Mumbai followed by the second and third ODI to be played in Vizag and Chennai on 19th March and 22nd March 2023.
