KOZHIKODE: Opposition party activists who staged a black flag protest against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's motorcade were detained by the police. The police detained seven KSU workers who showed black flags and Yuva Morcha workers who staged a protest. The police had earlier arrested two KSU leaders from West Hill who were planning to protest near the Kozhikode guest house after the Chief Minister left his home in Pinarayi.
The chief minister's visit to Kozhikode was held amid tight security as the leadership faced black flag protests, including Youth Congress workers, in the past few days. A ban on black clothes and masks was also imposed at the Meenchanda Arts and Science College, Kozhikode, in the program attended by the Chief Minister. The black masks of the students were removed by the police after the college authorities issued instructions regarding the restrictions on the program attended by the Chief Minister.
Meanwhile, KPCC president K Sudhakaran has come forward with the allegation that the workers and leaders are being illegally detained due to misuse of the legal system on account of the Chief Minister's visit. He also warned that if Congress workers are thought to be jailed for the black flag protest, the jails will not be enough.
