Stones pelted at Yesudas and Chithra during concert; accused arrested

KOZHIKODE: After 24 years, police have finally arrested the man who pelted stones at singers Yesudas and Chithra during a musical concert. The incident took place on February 7, 1999. The arrested person has been identified as Beypore native NV Azeez. It was the Nadakkavu police that nabbed Azeez.

The music concert was organized as part of the Malabar Mahotsavam organized by the tourism department. During the event, stones were pelted from near the Government Nurses' Hostel. The Kozhikode First Class Magistrate Court had issued an arrest warrant against Azeez, who used to sell fruits on the streets, in the case. However, the accused moved to Muthuvalloor in Malappuram district. The police were able to arrest Azeez on the basis of the information provided by his neighbour.
