THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The General Education Department has ordered that the recommendation of the selection committee, which includes a government nominee, should not be accepted for appointment by transfer in aided higher secondary schools. This is following a court order.
Appointments by transfer are for promotion from High School to Higher Secondary and from Higher Secondary junior to senior. It no longer requires an interview test or selection committee recommendation. The appointment of teachers in an aided school is made by a selection committee consisting of the school manager or his representative as chairman, the school principal and a government representative not below the rank of joint secretary.
However, the order states that the approval of such a committee is not required for the transfer of posts on the basis of seniority and merit. This makes the recommendations of the selection committee mandatory only for direct recruitment to HSST Junior and HSST vacancies in aided higher secondary schools.
