Kochi is preferred destination for tourists coming to Kerala, Thiruvananthapuram in third position

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: According to the tourism department, Kochi city attracted the most domestic and foreign tourists coming to Kerala. Along with traditional tourist centers like Fort Kochi, Mattancherry, Vyppin Bolgatti Island, Kodanad Elephant Training Center, Kochi Metro, and Lulu Mall are the favourite destinations for tourists.

After Kochi, Munnar is very popular among tourists. Thiruvananthapuram is ranked third with tourists preferring to visit the famous Padmanabha Swami Temple, Ponmudi, and Kovalam Beach.

While the Covid-19-induced international travel ban has reduced foreign tourist arrivals, there has been an unprecedented increase in domestic tourist arrivals in 2021-22. There was a 51.09 percent growth in domestic tourist arrivals in 2021 compared to 2020. Domestic tourists were 49.80 lakh in 2020 and increased to 75.38 lakh in 2021.
