Sports textbook to be included in school curriculum in Kerala from next academic year

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister V Abdurahiman said that sports textbooks will be included in schools from the next academic year in the state. These have been printed and are ready for distribution. The minister informed in a press conference that the handbook will be provided at the pre-primary level first. 1400 resource persons will also be appointed in schools on panchayat basis to train sports textbooks. The theory in the textbook will be taught in class by the teachers. Resource persons are appointed to demonstrate practicals. Schools with physical trainers may not have them. About 2,000 new posts will have to be created to recruit resource persons. As it is not possible in the current situation, the decision is to implement the project with resource persons at the primary level. Sportspersons who have performed well at state and district level are selected as resource persons. They will be trained by the trainers of the District Sports Council.
