Somebody should have won war by now, what happened?

russia-ukraine-war

The interminable war in Ukraine started in the late February of 2022. Many prophesied the war to end in a month or two owning to the warfare supremacy coupled with the spy masteries of the kremlin. But it was not to be. The year is 2023 and it is well past February in the calendar but still its's smoldering smokes over eastern European range with no quelling the war that many deemed a matter of months. Nobody has an upper hand in the war—the NATO coalition or the west supremacy couldn't upend the game in favor of Ukraine. The war gives no tilt to any side, but somebody is losing the game for sure—but neither it is Ukraine nor Russia, but the people of these two countries.

Russia triggered a war citing NATO incursions into the territories that Russia views as theirs. Even though toppling Ukraine was long in the cards of the kremlin, NATO helped the move come earlier shoving the devil in a bid to enrage a war at the most unexpected of times. The elite media in the west acted as the underling of the western government and fixated on the Russian president as the demon of our times. Op-eds on elite news portals and legacy media went a flurry with words of hate and admonishment against the Russian ruler. Meanwhile, Volodymyr Zelensky, a comedian turned president of Ukraine was eulogized by many for the mettle shown and was given a sacred halo for his takes on the war.

Zelensky appeared with rehearsed monologues on many platforms including an appearance amidst the glitter of Oscars. Political correctness/ incorrectness took a backseat as the world unified behind Ukraine's need to safeguard its sovereignty. Russian people were banned, ostracised, and attacked by many international communities. Russia was banned from the football world cup, many other international sports events, and whatnot. Many people were denied visas for traveling abroad— all for the government's action of wresting control over Ukraine.

The same stood for the people of Ukraine. With repeated bombings and carnage that shattered the human habitat, thousands lost their lives. NATO and American supremacy couldn't walk their talk of sheltering the crores in Ukraine. Zelensky was turned into a larger-than-life figure and was not a bit moved by the arson but wanted to put up a fight against Russia by all means. Prudent actions never found space and Ukraine suffered with fallen promises and last-minute ditches from many allies.

India on its part was resolute in its stance. The foreign minister made meticulous involvement in this war and never supported the Russian incursions but at the same time held resolute the longstanding camaraderie with Moscow. The initial step made by India was not any condemning act but transporting back the Indian citizens to safety from the war-stricken terrain.

The war which is still aflame in the eastern Europe terrain badly needs an end. NATO and other big forces should stop the demagoguery to reach détente.
